Maintenance Renewals

Keeping your maintenance contract current is crucial to ensure you receive timely software updates that keep your business applications up-to-date and secure, and to guarentee you have access to support services when you need them. In addition, if you let your contract lapse and wish to reinstate it at a later date, your costs can be far greater than if you renew. Keep in mind maintenance is different than warranty. To see the differences, view this document.

Contact Bill Boardman to discuss updating your MediaPOINTE Maintenance.

Frequently Asked Industry Questions

Unicast vs. MultiCast-
What is the difference?

Unicast
is the sending of video content to a single destination. "Unicast" is derived from the word broadcast, as unicast is the extreme opposite of broadcasting. In computer networking, multicasting is used to regain some of the efficiencies of broadcasting. When multicasting is unavailable, unicasting the exact same content to many users can be costly, due to the bandwidth needed.

Multicast is the delivery of information to a group of destinations simultaneously using the most efficient strategy to deliver the messages over each link of the network only once, creating copies only when the links to the destinations split.

IP Multicast is a technique for one to many communication over an IP infrastructure. It scales to a larger receiver population by not requiring prior knowledge of who or how many receivers there are. Multicast utilizes network infrastructure efficiently by requiring the source to send a packet only once, even if it needs to be delivered to a large number of receivers. The nodes in the network take care of replicating the packet to reach multiple receivers only where necessary.

MediaPOINTE offers products that can Unicast and Multicast. Contact Bill Boardman for more information.
